Static Zine is a Toronto-based “mag(azine)” run on a DIY ethic by editor Jessica Lewis, managing editors Aviva Cohen and Melody Lamb, and a collective of storytellers from all over the world, whether they are writers, illustrators, photographers and/or musicians.
Each issue — released 2x a year — poses a theme that the contributors must interpret in their own way on one page. Some choose cutting and pasting their media, while others go for a more digital approach.
Previous issues themes include the NXNE festival, first times, places, food and mental health.
Static Zine often puts on events for fundraising and releases.
Issues can be found around Toronto after releases in places such as Sonic Boom, Soundscapes, Rotate This, Sky Blue Sky, Big Fat Burrito, Saving Gigi’s and more. Let us know anywhere you’d like us to drop them off at!
We are always on the lookout for pitches to an upcoming issue. Specific directions for the issues will always be posted when needed. Static Zine does not accept pitches of music to review.
